Lights are coming up on the 42nd Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival: The Answer is Fringe!

Running since 1982, it has claimed the title of North America’s longest-running fringe festival. This large-scale celebration of cultivated art and community has even ranked itself amongst the top five fringe festivals around the world.

From August 17th to 27th, guests can indulge themselves in a variety of indoor and outdoor performances from local, national and international artists. With over 190 acts in 36 venues across Edmonton and the Old Strathcona area, it is sure to be a spectacular 11 days.

From 9:00pm to 10:00pm on select nights throughout the festival, head over to ATB Park for the Music Series. Here, you will find a curated lineup of electrifying local musicians that are sure to have you dancing.

For those attending with kids, make sure to stop by KidsFringe. This free activity centre and showing area inspires creativity and play for those 12-years old and under. Kids can take part in such things as Glow Yoga, Music of the Spheres, Let’s Hula-Hoop and much more.

Accompanying the action is a great list of food and artisan vendors that are located on-site, including multiple beer and wine tents.

Tickets are available online at their website or by phone. Prices range from $9 to $18 with select special offers for kids, students and seniors. All ticket profits go directly back to the artists.

For our residents in Edmonton, the festival venue is within a 26 minute drive of all of our rental locations. There are over 500 parking options around Old Strathcona to choose from. If you prefer to walk or bike, residents living in Ash Whyte Manor, Granville, Kativa, Queenland Apartments, Spanish Monarch and Verdwell Apartments are within 15 minutes of the festival grounds. The Edmonton Transit System and internal festival shuttle system are also great ways to get to the festival venue.
