Welcome to Fort Saskatchewan, a small but lively city 25km northeast of Edmonton. This riverside city if full of activities and events with excellent shopping, popular restaurants, and expansive recreation. 

Fort Saskatchewan is a city of fun and of opportunity and excitement. You’ll find their unique landscaping methods entertaining as a flock of 50 sheep chow down on the grass and weeds throughout the city parks every summer. While this saves money, it’s also a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative for lawn maintenance. Residents and visitors of Fort Saskatchewan love visiting the sheep and watching the shepherd and sheepdogs herd the flock. 

Recreation is big in this city. The Dow Centennial Centre, the centerpiece of the city’s recreation, is a multi-use facility with a gymnasium, indoor track, fitness centre, ice arena, and fieldhouse. Additionally, this 170,000 square foot building is home to a 550-seat performing arts theatre, a banquet hall, an art gallery with monthly shows, and the local Pottery Guild. There’s something for everyone here with memberships or drop in admissions available. 

The Harbour Pool, just ten minutes from our Waterford Court Condominiums, is an indoor pool with a diving board, kiddie slide, hot tub, and a sauna. Residents can visit the wheelchair accessible Harbour Pool for swim lessons, programs, and events.  For more water fun, visit the large spray pad at Pryce Alderson Park.

Fort Saskatchewan has 19kms of natural trails and paved trails for cycling, jogging or even cross country skiing. Trails are clearly marked and travel through the West River’s Edge, Lions Fish Pond, the Boat Launch, and the Historic Precinct. Fort Saskatchewan Prairie in West River’s Edge Park is a 13 hectare parcel of land with ample opportunity to see various bird species, deer, porcupine, or moose. There’re also numerous trails along the River Valley to explore. 

Fort Saskatchewan combines its small town charm with convenient urban living. You’ll find local shops, shopping centres, and restaurants serving a wide variety of cuisine. There’s also a seasonal Farmers' Market is open at the CN Station by Legacy Park. This city hosts several events and festivals throughout the year including the Sheep Leaving Parade and the Christmas Enchanted Forest.
