Summer is here and it's time to plan your getaway!
Edmonton is full of entertaining summer activities that will keep you and your family busy for days. Not sure what to splurge on and when to save during summer vacation? Ayre & Oxford have some great tips to help.
When you live in one of our great apartments here in Edmonton, a staycation is the way to go! Eliminate the need to travel and take advantage of the countless activities and attractions this city offers. Go on a thrilling adventure at the Snow Valley Ariel Park, or walk with the dinosaurs at Jurassic Forest just 30 minutes from many of our buildings!
Edmonton is a massive city, so sometimes it's worth staying in a hotel to maximize your time enjoying entertainment far away from your own home. The Comfort Inn & Suites, located in downtown Edmonton near many exciting and unique attractions, is a great hotel offering a pool, free hot breakfast, and free WiFi.
SAVE: Packed Lunches
Eating out for every meal during your summer outings can get expensive. Instead, pack a cooler with finger foods and cold beverages, or fire up a barbecue at one of the many Edmonton parks with fire pits or outdoor stoves. Make meals easy while staycationing by preparing and freezing a variety of foods to heat and serve.
SPLURGE: Eat Local
Plan to dine out at least once at one of Edmonton's best restaurants. Vivo Ristorante serves Italian cuisine family style for a more interactive approach to dining. The Melting Pot also offers up great fun for family dining, as you get to cook your own meal right from your table!
SAVE: Tourist Attractions
Edmonton attracts thousands of tourists every year, but as a local you can take advantage of many of the free and less populated attractions this city has to offer! Try a Scavenger Hunt to test how well you know the city, or check out Groupon Edmonton for all kinds of entertainment at reduced prices.
SPLURGE: Specialized Fun
Let's face it - sight-seeing can be tiring! Splurge on a few activities that will give you a great experience, while letting you rest at the same time. Take a tour on the newly redesigned Edmonton Queen Riverboat, or see the city from a new perspective in a hot air balloon! Relax at the Elk Island Provincial Park and camp out for a few days. Here, you can spend time at the beach, hike, picnic, or drive through the park to see bison, elk, and other amazing wild animals.
