The Edmonton Elks have had an interesting 2023 season. With all the highs and lows, the team has managed to keep fans on the edge of their seats. If you’re looking to take your game day experience from the couch to the stadium, here are just a few of the items you should bring along with you.

Tickets

Before you can enter the stadium, you must have your ticket. Whether it is a physical or digital copy, make sure to have it out and ready to scan when you arrive at the gates. If you haven’t snagged your tickets, you can get them online at their website. Arrive at least an hour early to avoid long lines, grab all the tasty treats and find your seats before kickoff.

Team Apparel

Show off your Elk pride with some green and gold! Whether it’s a jersey for your favourite player or just a plain green shirt, it’s the thought that counts. You can purchase your merchandise online or at the stadium on Level 3 near Gate 13.

You can also bring spirit gear, such as banners, flags and lung-powered noisemakers, to further emphasize your allegiance to the Elks. Before you bring your gear to the game, make sure that it follows the Commonwealth Stadium policies.

A Small, Clear Bag

Commonwealth Stadium encourages guests to not bring bags to the game. If you must bring one, it has to be small and clear to help with security checks. You can also bring a small clutch or purse. For more information on this policy, check out their website.

Weather-Appropriate Essentials

As we near the end of the football season and the sun begins to set earlier, the weather will start to fluctuate. Consider bringing jackets, sweaters or blankets to layer up with when the temperature drops. Also, opt for running shoes or sneakers. Not only will they be more comfortable during the game, but they can also prevent you from slipping if rain or snow makes the ground wet.

Water and Snacks

With all the screaming and cheering, you’ll need to stay hydrated. Bring along an empty 1-litre water bottle and use the refill stations around the stadium to not only help yourself, but the environment as well.

Stadium food can be pricey, so bring some small, individually portioned snacks to munch on. Then, you won’t risk missing a play by leaving your seat.

Portable Phone Charger

When taking photos of friends, quick plays and touchdown celebrations, your phone’s battery will start to drain quickly. Having a portable charger on hand will protect you from any unwanted situations.

Attending an Edmonton Elks game is a thrilling and unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a football enthusiast or new to the game, we hope you head down to Commonwealth Stadium to get a taste of the action. And remember Elks fans, “We're charging down the field for all to see, and shouting rah, rah, rah, fight on to victory.”
