Finnegan Farms
If you’re interested in horseback riding, Finnegan Farms is the place to visit. They offer lessons for people of all ages and summer riding camps for kids. With a 12-stall heated barn and an indoor riding area, you know that all horses are comfortable and well-cared for. If you’re not interested in riding the horse, there are plenty of shows running June through September to catch a glimpse of the action.
Pembina Place
Constructed in 1975, Pembina Place has become the stomping ground for many locals. This state-of-the-art facility includes an ice area, curling club, fitness centre and community garden. These areas can be rented out for private events - such as weddings, receptions, banquets and family events - and seats 480 people in their recreational hall. Whether you’re looking to try a new sport or make some new friends, Pembina Place is the perfect spot for just that.
Redwater Community Golf Course
Opened in 1959, Redwater Community Golf Course is a not-for-profit course that is run by volunteers. They are welcoming of all people with varying skill levels, offering three tees across their 9-hole course. They hold a variety of events and tournaments that you can sign up for. Their green fees and memberships are budget-friendly, allowing anyone to join. You can find their membership fees and book a tee time on their website.
Redwater Museum
Known as the ‘Hidden Gem of Redwater’, this entertaining and educational attraction is tucked away in a small strip mall. They offer interactive exhibits and historical artifacts dating back to1948 when oil was first discovered in a nearby town. Their exhibit, “When Oil Hit Redwater”, can be viewed online through the Virtual Museum of Canada’s website. Boasting over 4000 photos along with books, records, uniforms, and more, this museum is a must-do when you visit the area. The museum is open Thursdays from 1:00pm to 3:30pm and Saturdays 10:00am to 3:00pm
The Sandhills at Redwater Provincial Recreation Area
Home of one of the largest sand dunes in Southern Alberta, this spot is great for those looking to get outside and have some fun. There are designated trails for hiking as well as for ATV’s, snowmobiling in the winter and other off-roading vehicles. You can also engage in hunting, bird watching and geocaching.
