The Bailey Theatre
Built in 1910, The Bailey Theatre is considered the oldest performing arts centre in Alberta. The building has been renovated over the years to feature state-of-the-art technology and rigging while remembering its history through art and a brick wall feature. Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre
Opened in 2014 on the University of Alberta Augustana Campus, this centre was built with sustainability in mind. It has a large array of solar panels and is the first theatre in North America to use only LED lighting. With two performance spaces and a capacity of 780 split between them, there are many opportunities to create and promote artistic works. Camrose and District Centennial Museum
Opened in 1967, this museum is home to a variety of artifacts from Camrose’s history. It features 13 replica buildings of heritage landmarks, including the Fire Hall, the RCMP Machinery Building and the Blacksmith Shop, which features a working forge. You will also find antique items and vehicles, including a functioning 1912 Case Steam Engine. The museum is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from July to September or you can book a tour during their off-season.
Historic Downtown Camrose
If you love to shop, then this is the stop for you. Camrose has restored these once commercial buildings into local boutiques and shops for all to enjoy. If you’re looking for home decor, dining, furniture, clothing and more, it can all be found right here. To honour their history, you can find plaques on the exterior of the buildings. Camrose Saturday Farmers Market
If you’re looking for homemade goods, head to Duggan Mall on Saturdays year-round from 10:00am to 1:00pm and check out the farmers market. Featuring an average of 20-30 vendors, you can check out a variety of merchandise including baked goods, produce, crafts and more. This spot even hosts musical acts and offers special promotions. Back 40 Distillery
If you’re looking to try some Alberta-based spirits, make sure to stop at Back 40. Opening nearly 6 years ago, they are a 100% gluten-free company that uses Alberta sugar beets as their main ingredient. These are grown in Taber, which is about 4-5 hours away.
