Spring has arrived and it's time for that annual deep clean!

Open your windows and let that glorious spring breeze flush out the stale air from your apartment.

Deep cleaning the kitchen can seem like a daunting task. Dividing it up will help you stay focused and clean efficiently. Try dividing your kitchen cleaning into theses sections:

  • Large appliances
  • Cupboards and storage
  • Counters and small appliances
  • Windows and sinks

Always clean from the top down and start with your dirtiest areas, or the areas that will create more mess when you are cleaning (like the fridge and cupboards).

Large Appliances

To make cleaning the oven quicker, spray your cleaner in the oven the night before your planned kitchen clean, so you can start with the interior and finish with the exterior. Don't forget to clean in and around to the knobs, the burner plates, and the drawer.

Start your fridge cleaning with a thorough interior clean. Then, pull out the fridge and clean the floor beneath it, vacuum the fridge coils, and remove any dust that has built up on the back of the appliance. Declutter and clean the top and wipe down the exterior.

Cupboards and Storage

Your kitchen cupboards and drawers should be emptied one at a time and cleaned inside and out. Toss out anything that has expired and reorganize using shelf dividers, clear bins, and anything else that will help you regain control of your space.

Counters and Small Appliances

The toaster, coffee maker, and other small appliances need a thorough cleaning too! Always unplug appliances before cleaning and remember to wipe down the exterior when finished. Clean out utensil caddies, wipe down storage jars, and finish up by scrubbing the counter.

Windows and Sinks

If your kitchen has a window, wipe down the sill and clean the blinds. For the sink, start with the faucet and work down to the drain. Sanitize your sinks once clean with some paper towels dipped in vinegar. Cover your sink and faucet with them and let them sit for 20 minutes.
